The following message was posted via Clarendon Halls Facebook Page earlier this morning in regards to a manhunt for an shooter in Summerton near the school.
"***URGENT NOTICE*** ATTENTION #CHSaints*** We have been notified by the Clarendon County Sheriff’s office of a manhunt in Summerton. #ClarendonHall is on lockdown. PLEASE DO NOT BRING YOUR STUDENTS TO SCHOOL UNTIL YOU RECEIVE AN ALL CLEAR FROM US. Those in the area should remain inside with their doors locked. A deputy is at our school right now, and those already on campus are secure and safe. We will notify you when it is safe to bring your children to school using email and social media. The automated call system is not working this morning. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation."
The situation began with a series of car break-ins early this morning, according to Clarendon County Sheriff Tim Baxley.
"There were several guns stolen," said Baxley.
One victim of the break-ins saw the incident on his ring doorbell and proceeded to rush home before calling 911.
After arriving home he called out to the suspect who turned and shot at him 6 times. No shots hit the intended victim.
Schools within the town limits have been locked down, including the Early Childhood Center and the Harvest Community School.
The shooter is described as a black male with facial hair wearing a blue hoodie. He is considered to be armed and dangerous.

SLED has arrived with dogs to assist in the manhunt
