Manning, SC — Clarendon County School District is pleased to share early indicators of strong staff retention ahead of the 2025–2026 academic year. As of June 2025, approximately 82% of certified staff and 91% of classified staff have committed to stay with the district. These figures are preliminary and used primarily for planning purposes, with final numbers to be confirmed as hiring concludes.
Our district continues to make significant progress in reducing turnover. According to the latest data from the South Carolina Center for Educational Research and Accountability (CERRA), certified staff turnover decreased from 21.9% in the 2022–2023 school year to 13.3% in 2023–2024. This decline reflects the success of ongoing efforts to foster a supportive work environment and retain quality educators and staff members.
These retention rates are calculated based on the number of teachers who did not return from the previous year for any reason, including resignations, retirements, or transfers within the district. It’s important to note that statewide turnover figures include teachers who left South Carolina or moved into non-teaching roles within the state but do not account for teachers transferring between districts within South Carolina.
The district’s commitment remains focused on supporting our educators and staff, ensuring Clarendon County continues to be a place where talented professionals want to teach and grow.
