The Clarendon County School District is thrilled to announce the donation of laptops to Dr. Rose H. Wilder and East Clarendon Middle High School from the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) through the Computers for Learning Program. Initiated under President Clinton, this program has invested billions to provide computers to schools in need.

Alex Craven, Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees stated, "It is imperative today, especially in a rural area like Clarendon County, that we give our students the technology they need to keep up with the world."

Dr. Falecia Miller, Secretary of the Board of Trustees is excited and gracious for devices. "The devices will be put to good use."

Dr. Shawn Johnson, District Superintendent stated, "This is how we get it done, through continued partnerships and programs."

Joaquin Brown, Principal at Dr. Rose H. Wilder Elementary School stated, "This gives us a class set, so we are truly appreciative."

Jason from the U.S. General Services Administration stated, "We are happy to work with the school district office and administration to get the resources here. I want to thank Congressman Clyburn's office for advocating that computers come right here and you have a great advocate and friend in the Congressman's office. It is an honor to give back and provide resources that will have a generational impact on students to help them learn, grow, and develop as they go forward in their school and lifetime careers to do things that will impact their families and the community."

Mrs. Laura Fleming, Principal of East Clarendon Middle High School stated, "Resources can sometimes be limited, and we are always happy and grateful when we receive additional resources for our students."

“We are incredibly excited to extend this opportunity to the students in Clarendon County. Clarendon County is the county that transformed education in America and this is the 70th anniversary of Brown vs. The Board of Education. With this being a rural area and knowing technology needs in rural areas, we were happy to partner with the GSA to make this opportunity possible.” stated Quadri Bell, Representative from the Office of Congressman James E. Clyburn. “When I look at these laptops all I can think about is access and opportunity; access to technology, access to opportunity for our students to make sure they connect to the internet and have the educational opportunities they deserve. Let's continue to partner together to get every child in our community, every child in our congressional district, the education they deserve.”
