Clarendon County Deputy Scott Danback named South Carolina Law Enforcement Officer of the Year

Deputy Scott Danback of the Clarendon County Sheriff’s Office, along with his K9 partner Matteo, has been recognized as the 2024 South Carolina Law Enforcement Officer Association (SCLEOA) Officer of the Year. The award highlights their exceptional contributions to law enforcement and community engagement throughout the year.

Deputy Danback and Matteo’s efforts have centered on establishing strong community partnerships and providing consistent support through numerous deployments in Clarendon County. Their work has been credited with strengthening trust between law enforcement and the local community.

In addition to the SCLEOA honor, Danback and Matteo received the Alston Wilkes Society Award. This recognition, presented alongside the

Officer of the Year accolade, underscores their significant impact in the field of law enforcement.

During the award ceremony, Matteo and fellow K9 Minka had the opportunity to meet Miss South Carolina 2024, Davis Wash. Her presence added a special touch to the event, and plans are underway for future collaborations with her in community outreach initiatives.
