Community members, survivors, and supporters gathered at Manning High School on Saturday, May 17, for the 14th annual Think Pink Banquet hosted by the Clarendon County Cancer Overcomers.
Held in the school gymnasium, the event featured a walk/run in pink sneakers, survivor testimonies, a community meal, and opportunities to support the group through t-shirt sales, sponsorships, and souvenir book ads.
Many of those currently in treatment and in remission shared emotional testimonies of strength and resilience. South Carolina Rep. Fawn Pedalino also addressed the crowd, later posting on social media, “The testimonies shared were powerful, moving, and a true reminder of the strength in our community. President Jerome McCray and Ms. Annett Smith are doing an amazing job leading the way—helping with transportation to appointments, organizing support groups, and being a light for so many walking through difficult times.”
Proceeds from the event support local efforts to assist cancer patients with transportation, emotional support, and community outreach.
