Members of Clarendon 4-H traveled to Columbia on March 10 to take part in South Carolina 4-H Legislative Day at the State House, joining youth from across the state for a day focused on leadership, civic engagement and advocacy. Led locally by 4-H Youth Development Agent Alyssa Jones and supported by volunteers including Tina Proffit, the Clarendon group participated in the annual event, which gives 4-H members the opportunity to learn more about the legislative process, hear from speakers and meet with elected officials while representing their county. The visit highlighted the continued impact of Clemson Cooperative Extension’s 4-H program in helping local youth develop leadership skills, public speaking confidence and a stronger understanding of public service.
