The Clarendon County Chamber of Commerce and Junior Chamber recently hosted two events celebrating local partnerships and community service.
On June 24, the Junior Chamber welcomed Clarendon County Fire Rescue personnel with a special dinner during the Division 3 training session. Junior Chamber President Camlin Wilder expressed gratitude to CCFR members for their dedicated service, while member David Wilder was recognized for preparing the evening’s meal. The event marked the second effort in a series of appreciation projects launched by the Junior Chamber this month, beginning with a June 5 lunch provided for the Clarendon County Sheriff’s Office.
“We’re a group of volunteers who raise money through events and projects and give it back into Clarendon County,” said Vice President Steven Prebish. “This month, we wanted to give back to those who serve Clarendon County every day—our first responders.”
The Junior Chamber, made up of young men under 40, operates as a volunteer extension of the Clarendon County Chamber of Commerce. Led by Wilder, Prebish, Treasurer Ryder Hudson, and Secretary Andy Kennedy, the group currently has about 25 members and meets monthly. Their ongoing service projects include sponsoring students to attend Boys State, awarding annual scholarships, supporting the Turbeville Children’s Home, and partnering with local nonprofits such as the Christian Learning Center and Turbeville’s Back to School Bash. Their primary fundraisers include the Taste of Clarendon, an annual golf tournament, and a fall gun raffle.
Later that week, the Clarendon County Chamber of Commerce held a Business After Hours event on June 26 at Garden House Floral Studio in downtown Manning. Guests enjoyed hors d’oeuvres, beverages, door prizes, and a business card swap table. Membership applications were available on site for those interested in joining. The evening highlighted the Chamber’s continued commitment to fostering economic growth and encouraging community engagement.
