CCSD law enforcement program set to hold basketball benefit

Posted

The F.E. DuBose Career Center, Law Enforcement Program, will hold a CCSD Educators vs. First Responders Basketball Benefit to support our Law Enforcement Cadets and First Responders. We want to support those who look out for us but also to benefit our students whose career choice is to become a First Responder. The game will be held October 21st at 12 p.m. at the Manning High School Gymnasium. Mrs. Ladell Grice, Law Enforcement Instructor and Criminal Justice Professor, sees the importance of building relationships with our First Responders.

“This is a great opportunity to show CCSD’s partnership with local first responders. Our students work hard each day training to be first responders, which will be a great experience for them to get to know those in their planned career profession,” stated Mrs. Grice. “It takes funds to run this program in a way that prepares our students for the workforce, and this game will benefit our cadets and the Law Enforcement program in a great way.”

The Law Enforcement Program already houses one of the only training obstacle courses in the area.

However, other much-needed instructional tools, such as training uniforms and a 911 Dispatch Simulator, are on the list of vital instructional tools for the program.

“The Basketball Benefit is integral to the relationship between first responders and CCSD and our Law Enforcement Cadets. They need to see first responders, know them, and build those essential relationships that help our students make the right career choices. We need to bridge the gap in as many ways as possible,” stated Dr. Keisa Carr, Interim Director at FE DuBose Career Center. “Our programs here at FEDCC will come together to support the benefit and ensure that our students have what they need in the classroom to succeed.”

Tickets to enter the game are $5. Students will hold a 50/50 raffle, a 3-Point Shootout Competition, and have other prizes and fun activities.
