Clarendon County Fire Rescue celebrated the grand opening and ribbon cutting of its new Station 10 last Friday in the Davis Station community, expanding fire protection and emergency response in the area.
The Mar. 6 ceremony brought together county leaders, first responders and community supporters to recognize the completion of the new station and the role it will play in improving response capabilities for residents in the surrounding area.
Among those in attendance were County Administrator Walt Ackerman, Deputy Administrator Sharmane Anderson, Clarendon County Council Chairman Jay Johnson, District 1 Councilman John Richardson, and State Rep. Fawn Pedalino, along with representatives from the Clarendon County Chamber of Commerce and members of the fire department.
Fire Chief Jason Dennis said the facility shows the department’s investment in protecting the Davis Station area.
“The new station represents more than just a building—it reflects a shared commitment to safety, service and the well-being of everyone who lives in or visits the Davis Station community,” Dennis said.
According to the department, the station will provide firefighters with additional space, equipment and resources needed to respond more quickly and effectively when emergencies occur.
The event also served as an opportunity to recognize the men and women of Clarendon County Fire Rescue who respond to calls throughout the county, as officials also thanked community members and local leaders whose support helped make the project possible.
During the ceremony, special recognition was also given to longtime volunteer Capt. John Buchko for his decades of service. Buchko has more than 46 years of experience in the fire service, including 31 years serving in Clarendon County.
Department officials noted that Buchko remains one of the most active volunteers in the Davis Station area. In 2025 alone, he responded with the engine to 85 of the 139 calls dispatched to the Davis Station area, a level of service officials said reflects the dedication of the volunteers who continue to support the department.
