CCFR honors retirees, founding members

Posted

Clarendon County Fire Rescue recently brought together founding members, retirees and community supporters for a luncheon celebrating the department’s history and the people who helped shape it.

The Retirement and Founding Members Luncheon gave attendees an opportunity to reconnect and share memories from their years of service.

Judge Ferrel Cothran recalled working alongside Chief Carter R. Jones on arson cases that affected the community years ago. The department’s Emergency Services Complex bears Jones’ name.

Fire Rescue officials said the stories shared during the gathering reflected the close relationships that have long connected the department’s members.

“One message stood out above all the rest: This department has always been a family,” the department said in a social media post. “The family extends far beyond the fire station.”

The department thanked those who attended for their years of service, dedication and support. Officials said they hope to make the luncheon an annual tradition.

Fire Rescue also thanked Chief Jason Dennis for preparing the meal and department members who helped prepare for the event and clean up afterward.
