Clarendon County Fire Rescue is actively recruiting full-time and part-time paramedics, firefighters, and EMTs to join its growing team. The department, which operates under a 24/72 shift schedule, is offering a competitive benefits package and a mission-driven career opportunity to those ready to serve their community in emergency situations.
Applicants must be at least 18 years old at the time of employment and meet a series of physical, medical, and certification requirements. Candidates must be able to successfully complete a physical agility test, pass a medical physical examination, and undergo drug testing.
Full-time positions are open for Paramedics, who will operate under the general supervision of designated fire/rescue officers. Responsibilities include responding to 911 calls, providing emergency medical care, and assisting in fire and rescue operations. Required certifications include South Carolina EMT-Paramedic, National Registry Paramedic, Basic Life Support (CPR), Advanced Cardiac Life Support, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support. Applicants must also possess a valid South Carolina driver’s license and be a high school graduate or equivalent. Firefighter I certification is required upon hire, or must be obtained within 12 months.
The department is also seeking EMTs/External Firefighters. These team members will perform external fire suppression and medical care but are restricted from entering structures or enclosed areas for firefighting activities. Required certifications include South Carolina EMT-Basic, National Registry Emergency Medical Technician, and Basic Life Support (CPR), as well as certification as an External Firefighter or equivalent. Firefighter I certification must also be obtained within one year of hire.
