Clarendon County Sheriff's Office responds to shooting at Cook-Out on Dec. 3

On Friday, Dec. 3, 2021 at approximately 11:33 pm, deputies with the Clarendon County Sheriff’s Office were on routine patrol when one of the patrol deputies noticed a large crowd gathered at the Cook Out parking lot on SC 261 in the Manning area of Clarendon County.  As deputy proceeded into the parking lot of the Cook Out, he noticed several individuals fighting.  As he attempted to disperse the crowd, he heard a gunshot ring out in the proximity of the individuals fighting.  He immediatelyradioed for back-up and began securing the scene.  As other officers arrived, several subjects were detained and it was found the one subject had suffered a gun shot wound to the shoulder.  That subject was transported to McLeod Health Clarendon by Clarendon Fire Rescue with a non-life threating injury.  

Two subjects were arrested on the scene for unlawful carrying of a firearm.  It has not been determined at this time as to who the shooter or what the motive for fighting in this incident was.  This investigation is ongoing as of the timing of this press release.  No names of individuals will be released at this time.

The Manning Police Department, SC Highway Patrol and SCDNR assisted the Clarendon County Sheriff’s Office with this incident.
