Billy Rick Elms

Billy Rick Elms, Jr., 55, husband of Candice Gibbons “Candi” Elms, died Saturday, December 10, 2022, at Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC.

Born November 11, 1967, in Darlington, he was a son of Linda O’Neal Elms and the late Billy Rick Elms, Sr. He was a retired investigator with the Manning Police Department, a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, and a member of Second Baptist Church of Manning.

He is survived by his wife and mother of Manning; three daughters, Devin Elms of Manning, Baylee Elms Holland (Sidney) of Sumter and Brice Elms of Manning; a granddaughter, Hazel Johnson of Manning; a brother, John Elms of Sumter; a sister, Ryan Elms Prescott (Sammy) of Sumter; three nephews, Carter Elms (Savannah), Caleb Elms, both of Florida, and Landon Prescott of Sumter; and a niece, Anna Gail Prescott of Sumter.

A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 14, 2022, in the chapel of Stephens Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. David H. Dinkins and Rev. Mike Mills officiating.

A graveside service was held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, December 14, 2022, at Darlington Memory Gardens, 2071 E. Bobo Newsome Highway, Hartsville, SC 29550.

Pallbearers were Jody Thibodeau, Coty Thibodeau, Doug Ridgeway, Carroll Harrington, Sean Briley and Donnie Drose.

Visitation was one hour prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m. at Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the residence, 309 Alfred Henry Drive, Manning.
