On February 3rd, 2022, Clarendon County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a call of gunshots heard and a possible shooting incident near the basketball court area of JC Britton Park on Branchview Drive in the Bellwood Community. Upon arriving at the scene, deputies found no one around but discovered multiple shell casings in the roadway on Branchview Drive. While investigators were processing the scene, deputies received a call of a juvenile gunshot victim at Mcleod Health Clarendon. Deputies responded to Mcleod Health Clarendon and met with the juvenile victim, who had a gunshot wound to the upper hip area. The juvenile stated that he was shot near the basketball courts on Branchview Drive. The injuries sustained by the juvenile victim were not life threatening. The juvenile victim stated that he was shot while standing speaking with friends and did not see who shot him.
