On July 16th through July 18th 2021, the Levi Pearson Scholarship Foundation(LPSF), The Scott’s Branch Alumni Association and The Summerton Community Action Group, will collaborate together and host the Santee Annual Charity Golf Tournament, at the Lake Marion / Santee Cooper Golf Resort and Villas, located at 9069 SC 6, Santee, SC 29142. Through this collective effort, the civic organizations are raising funds to support local high school graduates with financial assistance through scholarships and encapsulate the historical history of Clarendon County, via a Memorial Park to be located in Summerton, SC. “We are in the process of building a park located on the site of the old Scott’s Branch School that will have monuments and statues of the leaders, plaintiffs and petitioners of the historical Briggs vs. Elliott Case,” said Robert McFadden, President of the Summerton Community Action Group. “It is our goal to make the park an attraction that will be very appealing to our citizens and visitors; in addition honor these brave citizens of Clarendon County who risked everything to desegregate our schools throughout the United States of America.” If you are interested in participating within the event, becoming a sponsor, or making a donation, please contact Robert McFadden (803-225-4085) or Charlie Ownes (678-863-5784).
