American Legion prepares for baseball


On May 1st, the Manning Santee American Legion Baseball, held a meeting for those interested in playing Sr. Legion and Jr. Legion Baseball. The meeting took place at the American Legion Hut on Sunset Drive in Manning. This meeting began at 10 am and lasted an hour and a half. During the meeting, Coaches GG. Cutter, Matt Mays and other coaches went over the expectations for their future season. Tryouts for the junior and senior teams begin May 17th. After tryouts, the teams are expected to play in the Florence pre-season tournament on June 4-6th. The coaches for the senior team are Matt Mays head coach, Greg King, Dalton Page and Morgan Mares. The junior team will consist of other former American Legion Baseball players. The coaches are currently in the process of finding other coaches for the junior team. All of the coaches coaching are previous American Legion Baseball players. They’re in a four-team region that consists of Orangeburg, Dalzell, and Charleston.
