Allard Memminger Brogdon III (Sonny), 83, passed away peacefully Monday, May 26, at his home in Alcolu.
Born on March 10, 1942, Sonny was the son of the late Allard Brogdon, Jr. and Dorothy Davis Brogdon.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the South Carolina National Guard Armory in Manning, where he retired with 30 years of service. He retired from Campbell Soup in Sumter and worked a number of various jobs from his youth.
He is survived by a wife of the home, Virginia Brogdon; a son, Al (Becky) Brogdon of Sumter; a daughter, Connie (Robert) Wolfe of Sumter; 9 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife of 41 years, Polly Culick Brogdon, a sister, Ann Brogdon Mullen, and a son, Victor Brogdon.
His body was donated to the USC School of Medicine in Columbia.
A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, June 14 at 2 p.m. at Clarendon Baptist Church in Alcolu.
