An afternoon of routine yard work turned tragic when James Benjamin Guy, 80, drowned in an accident at his lake home on Clearview Drive in Manning.
According to the Clarendon County Sheriff’s Office, Guy and his son were cutting grass when his riding lawnmower overturned near the dock, pinning his upper body underwater. Emergency services were called to the scene, but despite their efforts, Guy could not be revived.
The incident occurred earlier today, and Guy was pronounced dead by the Clarendon County Coroner at 3:42 p.m. Clarendon Fire/Rescue/EMS also responded to the call.
Guy was a resident of Scranton, South Carolina.
