As I reflect on the results of the national and local election, I hope that no matter who you voted for, you exercised your right to vote and made your voice heard. The process of voting is an important part of our democracy, and I encourage everyone to continue engaging in ways that bring peace, unity, and progress to Clarendon County and our country. We all share the goal of making our communities better places for those who live here.

Moving into the holidays, I want to remind our readers about our exciting turkey giveaway! Be sure to enter for a chance to win a frozen turkey by visiting any of our wonderful advertisers: Piggly Wiggly, Manning Feed Mill, Santee Automotive, Santee Hardware, Armando’s Mexican Restaurant, and Hines Furniture & Bedding. Winners will be selected live on The Manning Times Facebook page on November 22nd, so don’t miss out!

And as we approach this time of thanks, I want to take a moment to express my deep gratitude to our veterans. Some of my favorite people in the world are veterans, including my brother and best friend, Chris, who served in Iraq in 2004 and 2005. I’m grateful every day that he made it home safe, and I’m honored by his service. Growing up in a family of USAF parents, we have many cherished memories surrounded by service members and growing up in local VFWs. To all the veterans out there, thank you for your service and sacrifice.

Thank you for being a valued reader, and I hope you enjoy the upcoming season with friends, family, and all the blessings it brings.

Warm regards,

Melissa McCoy
