Reggie Kennedy has led football programs at six different South Carolina high schools, one of them twice. His eighth stint as head coach will be Manning High School. Currently the coach at Irmo High School, Kennedy made his final decision and presented it Monday to the Clarendon School District 2 and high school administrative staff. The Clarendon County native was a member of the East Clarendon High School 1985 State Championship team, and then attended South Carolina State University. There, he earned Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference honors. According to information from The State newspaper, Kennedy went 20-35 in five years with Irmo, and his team made the playoffs four of those seasons, although they did not make it past the first round. His overall record as of the 2018 season is 160-122. Aside from Irmo, Kennedy has served as head coach for Blythewood, Sumter, Kingstree and Orangeburg-Wilkinson. He served in the lead position at Fairfield-Central twice. His teams at Fairfield Central and Blythewood made the state semi-finals in 2010 and 2011, respectively, while Sumter High's varsity football team made it to the 4A Division II title game in 2013. He has been named a 5A Athletic Director of the Year by the South Carolina Athletic Administrators Association. He has also coached the Shrine and Touchstone Energy Cooperative bowls. Kennedy will replace Keith West, who served in the position at Manning High for three years. West resigned last month for an assistant coaching job at Sumter High School.
