Raymond Harrison Rigdon

Raymond Harrison “Harry” Rigdon, 65, died Thursday, Nov. 3, 2016, at Windsor Manor Nursing Facility in Silver.
Born Feb. 8, 1951, he was a son of the late Raymond Harrison Rigdon Jr. and Dorothy Lee Thigpen Summers.
Survivors include three brothers, Larry Thigpen (Ann) of Greeleyville, James E. Rigdon of Manning and Liffie LeRoy Rigdon (Sandra) of Sumter; and a sister, Peggy Barrett (James) of Manning.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, 2016, in the chapel of Stephens Funeral Home, with the Rev. Patrick G. Goodwin officiating.

Pet of the Day: Pixie

Pixie is a 19-week-old female black and white domestic medium-haired cat who is current on her shots. She has been spayed and has tested negative for feline leukemia and AIDS. She gets along with other cats and is affectionate. Come see her at A Second Chance Animal Shelter on Alex Harvin Highway in Manning from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.

The Clarendon County Voter Registration Office, 411 Sunset Drive in Manning, is now open for absentee voting. Hour are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
To vote absentee, you must be a registered voter and meet one of the following criteria:
Students, their spouses and dependents residing with them;
Members of the Armed Forces, Merchant Marines, Red Cross, USO, government employees, their spouses and dependents residing with them;
Overseas citizens;
For reasons of employment will not be able to vote on election day;
Physically disabled persons;
Persons on vacation;
Persons age 65 or older;

Rev. Wilbur Witherspoon Sr.

The Rev. Wilbur Witherspoon Sr. was born on Feb. 4, 1936, in Clarendon County, a son of the late Ferdinand and Camilla Johnson Witherspoon. He was called from labor to reward on Thursday, Oct. 27, 2016, at his home.
He was educated in the Clarendon County public school system. Wilbur attended the Morris College School of Religion. He was employed at Korn Industries for 28 years, until his health began to fail. The

More than 500 children were accompanied by their parents to various festivities Monday night in downtown Manning to celebrate Halloween. The events included Trick-or-Treat on Main Street, Sen. Kevin Johnson’s annual Halloween Bash, the Manning United Methodist Church Pumpkin Patch and various trunk-or-treats. This is the fifth and final of five galleries that manninglive.com will be posting throughout the day today.
