NEW ZION – Jack Deane Brown, 81, beloved husband of 59 years to Doris Oneida Epps Brown, died Saturday, August 27, 2016, at MUSC in Charleston.

Born July 8, 1935, in Columbus, Ohio, he was a son of the late Matthew Edward Brown and the late Laura Rees Brown. He was a US Marine Corps Korean War veteran having been awarded numerous medals including the UN Korean Services, National Defense, Korean Service, Republic of Korean War Services, Korean President’s Unit Citation, Korean Defense and the Ambassador of Peace medals. He was also a member of American Legion Post 149 and the Ohio Stationary Power Boiler Engineers.

He is survived by his wife of New Zion; a daughter, Cindy Brown Andreas and husband, Gary, of Manning; three grandchildren, Justin Pomeroy of Manning, Danielle Wall and husband, Ryan, of Dallas, Georgia and Leah London of Manning; a great granddaughter, Alice Wall of Dallas, Georgia; three sisters, Julia Sowers of Grove City, Ohio, Marjorie Hilliker and husband, Gordon, of Cardington, Ohio and Mary Trabert of Columbus, Ohio; a special sister-in-law, Elizabeth Brown of Columbus, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Anita Wolf and Helen Carrier; and five brothers, Earl Wolf, Walter Brown, Clarence Brown, Edward Brown and Ralph Brown.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 31, 2016, at Midway Evangelical Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Mike Lowder officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Gary Andreas, Ryan Wall, Justin Pomeroy, Jerry Harrington, Mike Harrington, and Wendell Robinson.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of American Legion Post 149.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, August 30, 2016, at Stephens Funeral Home and at other times at the residence, 1108 Marcus Lane, New Zion.
