A motorcycle chase that began in Clarendon County ended in tragedy over the Sumter County line early Tuesday morning.
Sumter County Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer Ken Bell said that Clarendon County deputies chased a motorcyclist into Sumter County, after which the driver turned onto Nazarene Church Road about 1 a.m. Tuesday.
"Deputies soon came upon the scene of a violent motorcycle crash," Bell said. The motorcyclist's body was nearby, he added. The S.C. Highway Patrol is aiding in the investigation. A name has not been released yet.
