Innovation driving SC's dynamic economy

Apple Inc. Co-Founder Steve Jobs once said, "Innovation distinguishes between a leader and a follower." Alluding to the importance of being on the cutting-edge, this statement is certainly relevant for Team South Carolina. As a state that is leading the way in so many things, it only makes sense that innovation and tech-related economic activity is thriving here. After all, the Palmetto State is home to many of the world's fastest-growing, globally-recognized brands -- all of which strive to be trailblazers in their respective industries. From the Lowcountry to the Upstate, and everywhere in-between, innovative collaboration has become commonplace here. This week alone, significant initiatives were announced, such as the creation of S.C. Codes Greenville, which will provide mentorship and free software development training in the Upstate. The establishment of a partnership between the S.C. Department of Commerce and the S.C. Biotechnology Industry Organization (SCBIO) was also announced this week. Together, the two will work to design a strategic plan for creating future growth in the life science industry sector. Both of these exciting announcements can be found on the S.C. Innovation Hub -- the state's premier resource for innovation and technology-related economic news and events. I've always believed that when many smart people are gathered in one place and moving in the same direction, good things are bound to happen. Looking ahead, it's clear that the innovative synergy taking place around this state will continue to drive South Carolina's economy forward, ensuring a prosperous economic future for all regions of this great state.
