A 39-year-old Manning man was charged about 1:57 a.m. Jan. 2 with third-degree domestic violence and breach of the peace after allegedly making a gesture like he was going to cut his wife's throat in front of witnesses and officers with the Manning Police Department at a home in the first block of Branch Street in Manning. According to reports, police responded to the home about 1:34 a.m., noting that there were "sevral intoxicated people in the yard." Hugh Edward Wilson Jr., 39, of 1085 Acorn Lane in Manning, allegedly told police that he was unaware 911 was called and that everything was fine. A 36-year-old woman living in the Branch Street home told police that she wanted Wilson to leave because "he was being loud and belligerent." Police asked Wilson several times to back away from the steps of the house, and to find someone to take him home, reports state. Wilson's wife then came out of the home and said she wanted her car keys, that she was not going home with Wilson because "she was scared of what he might do." Wilson allegedly became more and more agitated and made the "threatening gesture."
