Clarendon County Deputy Coroner Charles Jackson said a 60-year-old Florida man died Saturday morning after his tractor-trailer ran off the side of the road and struck a tree line.
Lance Cpl. Hannah Wimberly said the man was driving a 2015 freightliner in the northbound lanes of Interstate 95 when he ran off the road near the 117 mile-marker about 11:55 a.m. Saturday. Jackson said the man was pronounced dead at the scene, which was still being cleared by authorities about 6 p.m. Saturday.
He said he is trying to contact the victim's family before he releases his identity.
