An allegedly week-long armed robbery spree involving two Charleston area men came to an end Thursday afternoon in Clarendon County. Darius Deonte Cummings, 22, and Deshaun Forrest, 25, will be charged with armed robbery, assault and failure to stop for blue lights from up to four law enforcement agencies, including the Summerton Police Department, the Clarendon County Sheriff's Office, the Sumter Police Department and the Sumter County Sheriff's Office. The pair was arrested by the Clarendon County Sheriff's Office about 2 p.m. Thursday in the Ram Bay Area after a brief car chase from downtown Summerton that took deputies up to 100 mph speeds on Interatate 95. "Dispatch was alerted to an armed robbery in progress at the Summerton Dollar General," said Sheriff's Office Inv. Eric Rosdail. "When law enforcement from Summerton arrived, the armed robbery suspect was still in the store." The suspect fled on foot to a gas station, where he was spotted in a vehicle. "They led authorities on a chase that ended around Ram Bay when they tried to get back on the Interstate," Roadail noted. The suspects ran into a ditch and we're not seriously injured. Sumter authorities say charges are pending; they've allegedly linked the suspects to several incidents there. Sumter County Sheriff Anthony Dennis said the men are connected to as many as six incidents, including the one at Dollar General in Summerton. Manninglive.com will have more from the press conference held Friday in Sumter in a little bit.
