A Gable man was arrested Sunday by the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office and charged with kidnapping and first-degree criminal sexual conduct. Chad Allan Clemmons, 30, was granted $40,000 surety bonds Monday on those charges – altogether $80,000 – by a Sumter County magistrate judge. According to reports, a female victim told deputies that Clemmons bound her ankles and wrists with black tape and sexually assaulted her after an argument at a bar on Broad Street in Sumter. She said Clemmons hit her in the face during the argument at the bar, and that the pair then left in his vehicle and continued to a wooded area near her home. It was there, she said, that Clemmons bound her and assaulted her. The woman reportedly had bruises on her face and scratches on her legs. Clemmons next court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 24. It was unknown Tuesday whether he had an attorney.
