EDITOR’S NOTE: Deborah Lindsey, general manager of Goody's in Manning, is one of nearly 100 local businesswomen who will be recognized Sept. 23 during Main Street Manning’s annual meeting. The Manning Times will be featuring a few of these women each week throughout September in The Manning Times, and posting stories daily on manninglive.com. A native of Hamlet, N.C., Debra Lindsey’s first job was in a small boutique. The 1979 graduate of Richmond Senior High School in Rockinham, N.C., is now the manager of Goody’s on North Brooks Street in Manning. “I came into Goody’s in September 2012 looking for a seasonal part-time job,” she said. “I talked to Krystal Teal, and she would call me in a couple months’ time. In December 2012, I started working at Goody’s.” By July 2013, she was the manager. “I was always a people person, so I enjoy helping and communicating with people,” she said. “Working with the public is really enjoyable. On a daily basis, we as a team at Goody’s try to have the cleanest store in town, and it’s always a work in progress.” She has been married to Alvin Lindsey for 31 years, and the couple has three children, Alvin Darrell, Adrian Lindsay and Justin Lindsay. They also have four grandchildren.
