Air Force Reserve Airman 1st Class Jasmine Bethune graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in San Antonio, Texas, recently. A 2009 graduate of Manning High School, Bethune earned a bachelor’s degree in 2013 from Voorhees College in Denmark. She completed an intensive eight-week program at Lackland that included training in military discipline, Air Force core values, physical fitness and basic warfare principles and skills. Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force. She is the daughter of Walter Bethune Jr. and Janet Hilton Bethune of Pinewood. She is the sister of Walter A. Bethune III of Columbia and the granddaughter of Walter Bethune Sr. of Pinewood. She is the niece of Cora J Hilton and Tyrone E. Hilton Sr. of Miami, Fla.
