Coroner: Mother killed in I-95 wreck was pregnant

South_Carolina_Highway_PatrolClarendon County Coroner Hayes Samuels said the autopsy of a 28-year-old North Carolina woman killed Monday with her 11-year-old son on Interstate 95 showed the woman was 3-months pregnant.

“The examiner at (the Medical University of South Carolina hospital) called me to say that he had some bad news, and that she was about 3 months along,” Samuels said. “It’s just sad and tragic. Our roads have been just too dangerous this year.”

NCNW Back-to-School Bash

back-to-school-4The Clarendon County chapter of the National Council of Negro Women will hold its annual Back-to-School Bash at 4 p.m. Aug. 15 at the Clarendon County Council on Aging, 206 S. Church St. in Manning. The event will be for first through 12th grades, and students must be present to participate.
