CCSO vehicle chase on Interstate now on foot in Alcolu

The Clarendon County Sheriff's Office chase of a suspect in a vehicle from the Ram Bay area of Clarendon County to U.S. 521 outside of Alcolu - using Interstate 95 - has now progressed to a foot chase in Alcolu, according to dispatchers. Dispatch reported speeds of up to 105 mph. The vehicle was spotted at a plant in the 2000 block of Ram Bay Road after an alarm there went off. The owner told dispatch that he had cameras and could see an individual in a black trench coat on the building's second floor. The subject fled from there and got on the northbound lanes of Interstate 95 at Exit 115. By 8:46 p.m., the subject was getting off at the 122 Exit near Alcolu, taking a left on U.S. 521, headed toward Sumter. Deputies reported to dispatch that the subject is "all over the road." Deputies report they can hear the suspect in the wood line near Alcolu Street. The suspect's vehicle is secure so he cannot get back in it. There has been no description of the suspect, other than he is wearing a gray hoodie. UPDATE (Monday, Sept. 1): Authorities searching for break-in suspect
