BALTIMORE, Md. - Harristeen Lemon-Bozier, widow of Roosevelt “Roosie” Bozier, died Thursday, May 22, 2014, at her home in Baltimore. Born Aug. 8, 1921, in Summerton, she was a daughter of the late Charleton and Lurena Jones Lemon. Known by the nickname "Dutin," she attended Mt. Zion schools and received her high school diploma. She furthered her education and attended Morris College in Sumter. She was a faithful member of Historic Santee AME Church in Summerton and served as Mother of the Church and with the Stewardess Board, the Women's Missionary Society and as a Sunday school teach for many years. Harristeen Lemon-Bozier was a lifetime member of the Order of Eastern Star Spring Hill No. 263. She was also a great community worker and helped to raise many children. Survivors include two daughters, Lue (Mack) McDaniel and Celia "Baby Sister" Bozier; a son, Jeff (Ramona) Bozier of Baltimore; grandchildren raised as her own, Sharon and Shange Herring and Rochelle (Donell) Johnson, all of Baltimore; a sister, Celia M. Bennett of Baltimore; a son-in-law, William Livingston of Summerton; four additional grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; an adopted daughter, Inthia Marion of Summerton; two adopted sons, Leroy Nelson of Newark, N.J., and Elder Willie Starks of Summerton; a special and faithful niece, Irene Bozier-Hill of Florence; a nephew, Thomas Henderson of Bronx, New York; a special friend for many years, Hestell Bennett-Ragin; four godchildren, Willie, Charlie, Willene and Sarah Richardson, all of Baltimore; two god-grandchildren, Jasma Jones of Summerton and Deswinyana Jones of Baltimore; and a number of other special relatives, friends and neighbors. Funeral services for Harristeen Lemon-Bozier were held Friday, May 30, 2014, at Historic Santee AME Church, 1045 Dingle Pond Road in Summerton, with the Rev. Rommie Williams, pastor, officiating.
