Will John Senden win The Masters?

Posted
Maybe. The 42-year-old Australian, currently ranked 18th in FedEx Cup point standings, fired a second round 68 at Augusta to vault into second place (-4) behind leader Bubba Watson, who sits at -7. Watson and Senden tee off today at 2:45 p.m. in the final pairing. Senden has already won once on tour this year, taking the Valspar Championship in March to secure an invitation to The Masters. With a professional career that started in 1992, Senden has 36 career top 10 finishes on the PGA tour, and two in 2014. On Friday, Senden carded six birdies and two bogeys. After that round, he said playing Augusta is all about having the confidence to take the shots but also accepting it, as well, according to the PGA's official website. "I've been here four or five times now and learned where to go and where not to go. But you can't not try not to go there. You just have to accept where the ball does end up and play the best shot that you can," he said, according to pgatour.com "Be smart if you're not in position, because the secret of this course, I think ... obviously there's plenty of opportunities with birdies, but it's more likely keeping the big numbers off the card. And that kind of puts you straight out of contention. And if you can do that well you have a chance." Perhaps overshadowed by fellow Aussie Adam Scott (-3) who won The Masters last year, Senden now has the chance to take home his own green jacket. And nobody will have John Senden to kick around anymore.
