Official: Power fully restored in Clarendon County

Posted
On Saturday about lunchtime, Clarendon County Emergency Management Director Anthony Mack said all county residents have had their power restored. At one point, about 347,000 residents in South Carolina were without power; in Clarendon, that number peaked at 12,000, according to Mack. The vicious winter storm dubbed "Pax" that blanketed the Midlands with ice and snow was responsible for many downed trees and power lines. Crews from Santee Electric, Duke Energy and Black River Electric Co-op swarmed the area to repair the grids only to face difficult and dangerous conditions that slowed progress. Weather prognosticators are unfortunately calling for another round of cold weather taking effect next week.
