Stokes gives board, public update on CMH's fiscal health

Clarendon Health System CEO Richard Stokes parried with members of the community Thursday night at a board of trustees meeting following his hourlong Power Point presentation about the past, present and future of the county’s hospital. The primary concern of the folks asking questions was the hospital’s fiscal health, its pending application for a $14.5 million USDA loan, how the board apparently changed its collective mind about the loan at the last meeting, and how the hospital plans to cut costs while also expanding. Numerous hospital employees and supporters were in attendance, while a vocal county councilman and several others demanded answers from the chief executive officer.
