new police officer 3Though sworn in last week as a Class 3 officer for the Manning Police Department, Yolanda C. Junious is a familiar face to anyone who comes into the office.

A native of Miami, Fla., who has lived in Clarendon County since 1979, she has worked for the department for about one-and-a-half years, she said, typically greeting visitors at the office’s front desk and preparing police reports and handling other duties.

“I’ve always wanted to be in law enforcement,” she said shortly after being sworn in by Manning Mayor Julia Nelson on Jan. 14 at Manning City Hall. “I was really wanting to do it in the early 1980s, but I had a young daughter who was 2 at the time, and my father wanted me to do something else.”
