Urgent Care gives out 300 turkeys

Posted

On Saturday, November 20th, Low Country Urgent Care in Manning, South Carolina gave away three hundred turkeys along with two hundred piggly wiggly gift cards for free. With Thanksgiving quickly approaching, the staff and Helen Holthaus, director of marketing, decided to give back to the Manning community. Low Country Urgent Care previously held this event in 2020, but only distributed one hundred turkeys. Due to the overwhelming success of this event, Low Country Urgent Care decided to hold it again this year in 2021, but with three times the number of turkeys.

The event began at noon and lasted until the turkeys and gift cards were completely gone.

Ten staff members, as well as two Clarendon County police officers, were on hand to assist with this event. Low Country Urgent Care purchased the turkeys from the Holly Hill IGA and distribute them to the community.

“We want to help out the community any way we can,” said Holthaus.

In 2020, over one hundred fifty members of the community attended the turkey giveaway.

The event last year was a huge success.

“It was absolutely amazing.” When asked how the event went in previous years and how the community responded to this event, Holthaus said, “We had so many people reach out and say thank you.”

Holthaus and the rest of the staff were extremely optimistic that this year’s turkey giveaway was also going to be yet another huge success.

“I definitely have high hopes for this event and I think it will be perceived really well. Anything to help the community is the best,” said Holthaus.

In the end, they managed to meet their goal and give out every single turkey and gift card.
