Update on felon who held Alcolu woman hostage

On March 16, Ronald Ray Broadnax was discharged from McLeod Florence Medical Center in Florence SC.  

Broadnax was subsequently arrested after his discharge for pending charges in Clarendon County for:

Kidnapping – Felony with a penalty not to exceed 30 years in Prison.

Burglary 1St – Felony with a penalty of 15 years to Life in Prison

Arson 2nd – Felony with a penalty of 3 years to 25 years in Prison

Assault and Battery 1st – Felony with penalty of not more than 10 years in Prison

Possession of a Weapon During a Violent Crime – Felony with up to 5 years in Prison

Discharging a Weapon within a Dwelling – Felony with a penalty up to 10 years in Prison

Attempted Murder – Felony with a penalty up to 30 years in Prison

Broadnax was transported to Clarendon County where he appeared before a Bond Court Judge. Broadnax’s bond was denied on all charges.

Broadnax was then transported to the J Ruben Long Detention Center in Conway, SC where he will remain in custody until he can be transferred back to the Clarendon County Detention Center in Manning, SC.

Broadnax was hospitalized due to injuries he sustained from a K-9 bite during the incident that occurred on March 9,2023 in the Alcolu Area of Clarendon County.
