Three structure fires strike Clarendon

Over the past six days, Clarendon County Fire Rescue units have responded to 91 incidents. Of these incidents, there have been three structure fires.

On Wednesday, Mar. 15, 2023 at 9:29 a.m., CCFR units were dispatched to the 1500 block of Hoffman Drive in the Wilson community. Five engines, one ambulance, and 25 personnel responded.The first unit arrived on scene at 9:40 a.m., reporting flames visible from the rear of a two story structure. The homeowner was standing by and confirmed no one was inside. The fire was brought under control by 10:03 a.m. The home sustained major heat and smoke damage throughout. It is confirmed the fire began on the outside of the structure.

On Sunday, Mar. 19, 2023 at 4:22 a.m., CCFR units were dispatched to the 1500 block of Litzler Drive in the Davis Station community. Dispatch also advised there was possibly someone in the home. Five engines, one ambulance, two Clarendon County Sheriff’s Deputies, and 18 personnel responded. The first unit arrived on scene at 4:34 a.m., reporting flames visible from the rear of a single wide mobile home. All occupants were outside the structure and accounted for upon arrival. The family’s two cats were still inside the home and were located a short time after, deceased. The fire was brought under control at 5:15 a.m. The fire is currently under investigation.

On Monday, Mar. 20, 2023 at 2:29 a.m., CCFR units were dispatched to North Church Street in the Summerton community. Four engines, one ambulance, and 18 personnel responded. The first unit arrived on scene at 2:34 a.m., reporting flames visible from a two-story residential structure. The homeowner was on scene and confirmed no one was inside the structure. The fire was brought under control at approximately 4:25 a.m. The home sustained major fire, smoke, and water damage throughout. The fire is currently under investigation. Clarendon County Sheriff’s Deputies and Summerton Police Department assisted with traffic control on North Church St/Hwy 15 while CCFR units were on scene.
