Swampcats dominate Orangeburg Prep

Posted

Up 34-6 in the first quarter, the Laurence Manning Swampcats made playing football look easy Friday night against the Orangeburg Prep Indians. QB Tyler June made his way into the red zone early on, passing the ball to senior Brandon King who scored the first touchdown of the night. Orangeburg Prep had a swift come back and landed on the one yard line a few minutes later bringing the score to 7-6 at the start of the first quarter. Once the Swampcats had the ball back in their hands, the game was over. June went straight for the endzone and scored a 61-yard touchdown the following drive. An interception and a few touchdowns later, the score was 34-6 at the end of the first quarter.

The Swampcats had complete control of the game by the third quarter. Junior Ian Harris finished the game with a 66-yard touchdown run, making the final score 54-14. Their fifth straight win of the season.

When asked how the Swampcats were able to stay in control for the entire game, Head Coach Will Furse said, “Well it was a group effort, everyone played really hard. Our starters did a great job of setting the tone early on, then our next guys came in and finished the job. I really couldn’t be more proud of this team.” (WACHFOX57)

“We’re excited about our game next week against Trinity Collegiate, they beat us last year so we’re going to have to play our best game of the year to beat them next week.”
