SLED guidance on South Carolina concealed weapons permits

Posted

South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster and Dr. Linda Bell, the State Epidemiologist with the Department of Health and Environmental Control, have encouraged the wearing of face coverings or masks to help stop the spread of COVID-19 in South Carolina. South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson has acknowledged that South Carolina cities can pass ordinances requiring the wearing of masks in a city's jurisdiction and that wearing a mask to comply with a city health ordinance would not violate Secion 16-7-110 or any other South Carolina law. Accordingly, there is no South Carolina Concealed Weapons Permit (CWP) law that prohibits a South Carolina CWP holder from wearing a mask to comply with a city or a county health ordinance or to help stop the spread of COVID-19 while carrying a concealed weapon in South Carolina.
