Scott's Branch football team takes a loss

Posted

Looking to stop their recent slide, Scott’s Branch traveled to Cross in hopes of their second win of the season. Unfortunately, a slow start on offense and two first quarter touchdowns saw Scotts Branch down 14 at the end of the first quarter. Scott’s Branch head coach Randall State said, “We started off flat.”

In the 2nd quarter, the defense rose to the occasion and shut down Cross, but the offense was still unable to get rolling. In the third quarter, the offense made some noise as Tyler Kind connected with R.J Gibson for a 25 yard touchdown to cut the lead to 14-6, but the following conversion was failed. Cross would enter the third quarter with a lead and not look back as they scored 16 in the fourth quarter to blow the game open.

Coach State said, “We’ve got to get stronger, and have got to get better in the trenches. We have to get better technique.”

Scott’s Branch will look to snap out of their recent losing streak as they travel to play the St. Johns Islanders Friday night. Sophomore Linebacker Dreshawn Blanding, and Senior Defensive end Kanye McFadden led the team with 9 tackles a piece. Senior Tyler Kind added 6 tackles to go along with his one touchdown pass, and 50 yards on the ground.
