Richard "Dick" Murray Brownell

Richard “Dick” Murrey Brownell, 89, died Wednesday, August 19, 2020, at The Regional Medical Center of Orangeburg.

Born October 17, 1930, in Honolulu, Hawaii, he was a son of the late Theodore Richard Brownell and the late Catherine Murrey Brownell.  He served 30 years in the Navy and retired as a Senior Chief Petty Officer.  He was most proud of the fact that he, his father and his son all served in the Navy with over 95 years of unbroken service.  He was a member of the Manning Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW).  He was married to the love of his life, Ayako Tsunoi Brownell, for over 50 years.

He is survived by one son, Theodore “Ted” Richard Brownell II (Vickie) of Manning; two daughters, Nana Cope (Ron) of California and Sharon Solorzano (Joe) of Arizona; six grandchildren, Mindy, Natalie, Shaun, Aaron, Kevin and Katie; one great-grandchild, Sydney; and one sister-in-law, Irene Brownell of California.

He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, and a brother, Jack Brownell.

Services will be held at a later date.
