Recreation Department hosts card contest

Posted

The Clarendon County Recreation Department just completed their annual Christmas card contest. This year, participants came from all Clarendon County schools, in grades 1st through 4th.  The Clarendon County Recreation Department is very happy with all of the Christmas cards that were made and sent by the students.

“We want to thank the students, teachers and office personnel at these schools who helped their students getting this artwork completed and to us,” said the department. “We couldn't have accomplished this event without you.”

The winner of the contest was Lauren Parker, a second grade student at Manning Primary School. Lauren received a blue ribbon and a $25 gift certificate from Walmart. Lauren's card will officially become the Clarendon County Recreation Dept. and Clarendon County Development Board's Christmas card. Lauren will also get the original drawing framed, as well as 10 copies of the card.

Honorable Mentions, who received $5 and a Green ribbon, are as follows:

Daley Boykin, age 9, 4th grade, Laurence Manning Academy.

Adelaide Herlong, age 7, 2nd grade, Manning Primary School.

Emma Webster, age 7, 2nd grade, Walker Gamble Elementary School.

Carter Miles, age 8, 3rd grade, Manning Primary School.
