McLeod Health Announces New Rural Health CMO Role for Dr. Catherine E. Rabon

McLeod Health is pleased to announce the appointment of Catherine E. Rabon, MD, FHM, currently Chief Medical Officer of McLeod Health Clarendon, to the position of Chief Medical Officer for McLeod Health Inland Rural Hospitals effective October 01, 2021.  In this expanded role, Dr. Rabon is responsible for enhancing relationships and communications with medical staff and engaging and problem solving with physicians at McLeod Health Cheraw, McLeod Health Clarendon, and McLeod Health Dillon. She will prioritize and is committed to excellence in physician education, peer review and quality assurance systems at each of these facilities to fulfill the goals of McLeod Health.

Dr. Rabon joined the medical staff of McLeod Health in 2016, serving as Chief Medical Officer and Hospitalist Medical Director for McLeod Health Clarendon. She has served and led initiatives with the McLeod Health Executive Leadership Committee, the McLeod Health Clarendon Community Advisory Board, McLeod Health Clarendon Medical Executive Committee, Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, and Information Technologies (IT) Steering Committee.

She is a true asset to the medical staff of McLeod Health, and we anticipate continued success in her leadership and collaborative efforts as they extend to McLeod Health Cheraw and McLeod Dillon.”

 

A native of Sumter, Dr. Rabon received her Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry from Converse College in Spartanburg, South Carolina in 1992.  In 1996, she earned her Doctor of Medicine from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.  She completed a General Surgery Internship at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center in 1997, followed by her Residency in Internal Medicine at Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia in 2000. She is Board Certified in Internal Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine, and a Fellow in Hospital Medicine with the Society of Hospital Medicine.  She also serves as a faculty member for the McLeod Family Medicine Rural Residency program, and an Associate Professor of Medicine for the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine. 

 

Physicians serve as CMOs (Chief Medical Officer) throughout McLeod Health, led by Corporate Chief Medical Officer Dr. Dale Lusk. Dr. Jeremy Robertson serves as Chief Medical Officer for McLeod Regional Medical Center, Dr. Matthew Weeks serves as Chief Medical Officer for McLeod Health Loris and McLeod Health Seacoast, and Dr. Richard Alexander serves as Chief Medical Officer for McLeod Physician Associates.
