A Manning man was killed about 9:20 p.m. Monday in a wreck on Interstate 95 in St. Augustine, Florida. Fred Gray, 75, of Manning, was trapped in a pickup truck involved in a crash that shut down all southbound lanes of Interstate 95 near State Road 16 in St. Augustine for more than nine hours, according to the St. Johns County Fire Rescue. Gray was airlifted to the University of Florida Health Jacksonville trauma center, where he was pronounced dead. The Florida Highway Patrol said Gray's truck was in the right shoulder of I-95. Gray then left the shoulder and crossed all southbound lanes. At some point, he passed in front of a semi. The semi hit Gray's pickup truck. The pickup crashed into the shoulder. The semi ended up hitting a guardrail and catching fire. The semi driver, 31-year-old Bashir Sheikh, was taken to Flagler Hospital with serious burn injuries from the wreck.
