Manning man arrested in connection with fatal shooting

A 22-year-old Manning man died in a shooting that occurred early Friday morning, according to Clarendon County Coroner Bucky Mock.

“Javon Smith died between 3:30 a.m. and 4 a.m.,” Mock said. “An autopsy has been scheduled for Sunday at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.”

In the early morning hours of Friday August 7, 2020, the Clarendon County Sheriff’s Office along with Officers from the Manning Police Department responded to 1275 High Hills Lane Manning, SC.  Upon arrival, Officers found the victim, 22-year-old Javon L. Smith of Manning, SC.  Smith with an apparent gunshot wound to the chest.  He was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Clarendon County Coroner.

36-year-old Jeffery Weeks of Manning SC was arrested in connection with the shooting death of Smith.
