Letter to Editor: Watch out Criminals there is a New Chief in Town!

Posted

Dear Editor,

My family has been in Manning for generations. In fact, my Grandfather and Father ran the water department not for monetary gain but just to save the town monies. I can remember many nights that my Dad got out of bed to help a neighboring town that didn’t have water. He did it to help other people and not for a salary. Unfortunately, those days are long gone when people volunteer to save the town money and to make the city a better place. Although its 2020 it would be nice to get back to those rituals that are dying out with our elders. Times have changed but at least the high standards of right and wrong are still being upheld by Manning Chief of Police.
Manning has been blessed with a new Chief of Police. Chief Keith Grice is an excellent addition to Manning and brings the experience and expertise to get the job done. Chief Grice replaces a disappointing situation where those we trust to enforce laws are breaking them themselves. The good old boy who looked over your crimes because you were buddies is no longer in place.
As Chief Grice settles in and molds his staff to be accountable to serve and protect the citizens of Manning, we have great expectations that he has and will continue to live up to. We are grateful to have him and we all can sleep better at night knowing that under his leadership Manning will improve, crime will decrease, and people will know that “that kind of behavior is just not accepted in Manning.”
I personally have utilized Chief Grice’s services with a tenant who stole appliances, air conditioners, furniture, fixtures, and skipped out on rent several months. What rental property gives away appliances, air conditioners and allows the tenant to destroy the property before leaving? After doing my due diligence and finding out a little more about our Outstanding new Chief I went directly to him. He not only took the time to listen to me, but he took charge and did what needed to be done to hold the criminal accountable for their crime. That’s what a leader does and I want to point that out to the citizens of Manning that you are in good hands with Chief Keith Grice,
