Letter expressing thanks to Manning city workers

Posted

Dear Editor:

I am writing this and requesting that my name be withheld.  The reason for that request is that I would prefer that the people I am about to refer to consider this coming from many Manning residents, business people and those who pass through Manning.

I am writing about our city workers who keep Manning clean and in good repair.  All one needs to do is to see the County Courthouse after Striped Bass Festival then see it the next morning to really appreciate how hard these men and women work.  It always amazes me to see the disaster area the courthouse grounds appear to be right after the Festival on Saturday afternoon only to see it beautiful and pristine by the next morning.

This time of year everyone is decorating for the Christmas holidays and I saw the workers out stringing lights before Thanksgiving so Manning would be ready.  They did a wonderful job and I cannot count the number of people who have remarked about how pretty and festive the downtown area, and especially Brooks Street, is at night.  There is just something about Christmas lights that helps keep the Christmas mood and tranquility regardless of the temperature or the bad news seeming to always bombard us.

Therefore, I wanted to pause a minute to say “Thank you” to those city workers.  Your hard work is appreciated and noticed and you have helped to make Manning “matchless for beauty and hospitality”.
